Early in the season we accepted pre-orders and sent out the correct letters to early customers. However, some letters sell out pretty quickly and with the amount of orders we receive about halfway through the season, we simply can't guarantee that the letters you request are also the letters you receive. We have indicated this on our website, but we realise now not everybody reads this, judging by some emails we have received. Therefore, we decided to post this short explanation.
We know this does not satisfy everyone and we'll try to find a way to do it differently next year. We assumed by taking on pre-orders and stating our policy on our website for late(r) orders, it would be ok. We do hope everyone enjoy his or hers chocolate letters!

As the temperature is falling and the passion is rising, it’s the talk of the town in the entire nation: will there be an Elfstedentocht (Eleven Cities Tour) or not?
The Elfstedentocht is the world’s largest and longest speedskating contest in the world. It passes all of the eleven cities of the northern province of Friesland and features a distance of over 200 kilometers (125 miles). The point is: the entire ice along the route has to have a minimum thickness of 15 cm (6 inches), which is not the case as of now. With ice transplantations and a little hope and prayer, the Dutch hope to get the ice in order, so the race can be held for the first time since 1997.

As some of you might know, I am temporarily in the United States on an extended trip. There are so many Dutch goodies that I miss out here, although I do send myself a care package every once in a while. The things that I personally miss the most are my slice of Dutch wheat bread with Calvé peanut butter in the morning, a frietje speciaal, bitterballen with mustard, and Dutch/Indonesian food, especially with satésaus. Writing this is making me hungry!
Luckily, there are also American products that I have come to love, like Strawberry/Lemon lemonade, Starbucks Mocha Coconut Frappuccino, Cinnabon, Skyline Chili, and cheesecakes from the Cheesecake Factory.
I do miss my Dutch food though. What Dutch goodies do you miss the most? AND, what food from your current country have you come to love?
